Marketplace Facilitator Tax Policy

This Marketplace Facilitator Tax Policy applies to all transactions conducted through Oceanhood Inc. (“Oceanhood,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
Oceanhood Inc. operates an international online marketplace platform connecting independent merchants, suppliers, and buyers, including maritime vessels and commercial shipping entities worldwide.
MARKETPLACE FACILITATOR STATUS
Where required by applicable law, Oceanhood may operate as a “Marketplace Facilitator,” “Marketplace Provider,” or similar intermediary under applicable tax regulations.
Oceanhood may collect, calculate, remit, or facilitate collection of certain taxes on behalf of sellers in jurisdictions where such obligations apply.
However, tax laws vary significantly by jurisdiction and transaction type.
SELLER TAX RESPONSIBILITIES
Independent merchants and sellers using the Platform are solely responsible for:
- Determining their own tax obligations
- Registering for tax permits where required
- Maintaining valid resale or exemption certificates
- Reporting taxable sales
- Paying taxes not collected by Oceanhood
- Complying with local, state, federal, and international tax laws
Oceanhood does not provide tax advice.
Sellers should consult qualified tax professionals regarding their obligations.
BUYER TAX RESPONSIBILITIES
Buyers are responsible for:
- Paying applicable taxes, duties, VAT, tariffs, customs fees, and port charges
- Providing accurate tax exemption documentation where applicable
- Complying with import/export laws and maritime regulations
Certain transactions involving international shipping or vessel deliveries may qualify for tax exemptions under applicable laws; however, buyers remain responsible for providing proper supporting documentation.
EXPORT AND MARITIME SALES
Certain transactions involving:
- International exports
- Vessel provisioning
- Ship stores
- Foreign commerce
- Deliveries to vessels leaving U.S. territorial jurisdiction
- may qualify for exemptions from sales tax, VAT, or similar taxes under applicable laws
Eligibility for exemptions depends on:
- Jurisdictional rules
- Delivery documentation
- Bills of lading
- Export evidence
- Vessel status
- Customs documentation
Oceanhood reserves the right to request additional documentation before applying tax exemptions.
TAX COLLECTION
Oceanhood may:
- Automatically calculate taxes
- Display estimated taxes during checkout
- Collect taxes required by law
- Remit taxes to applicable authorities where legally obligated
Tax calculations may not include all international duties, customs charges, or local fees.
TAX EXEMPTION CERTIFICATES
Buyers or sellers claiming exemptions may be required to provide:
- Resale certificates
- Export documentation
- Vessel documentation
- Maritime exemption certificates
- Government-issued permits
- Tax registration information
Oceanhood may reject invalid or incomplete documentation.
NO TAX WARRANTY
Oceanhood makes no representation or warranty regarding:
- Tax treatment of transactions
- Availability of exemptions
- Accuracy of tax calculations
- Tax reporting obligations
Users remain solely responsible for verifying applicable tax treatment.
AUDITS AND GOVERNMENT REQUESTS
Oceanhood may disclose transaction records and tax documentation to governmental authorities where required by law, subpoena, audit, or regulatory request.
POLICY CHANGES
Oceanhood reserves the right to modify this Tax Policy at any time to comply with changing laws and regulations.
